What does it mean to use a pentagram?

That's the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. In ceremonial magick, it is a ritual used to cleanse an area of energy. But....there's a problem with what you posted. It should go, East, South, West, North and back to East to finish the circle. Not East, North and around counterclockwise. Maybe someone made a mistake when writing it down?
