Natural teeth whitening?

I heard that if you brush your teeth with baking soda, your teeth would become pearly white. Then later on, I read that if you collect ash (after a barbecue etc) and use that to brush your teeth, it'll be white too. There's been no chance for me to try the ash one but the baking soda one does not work at all. Those whitening toothpaste doesn't work either. Any suggestions for natural ways? How to improve my SAT Critical Reading score?

I have taken the SAT twice and recently I got 570 reading, 740 math, and 780 writing. I completed the Collegeboard SAT blue book and have taken probably 15 practice tests total for the SAT. I don't how to improve reading no matter how hard I try. I really need to improve to a score around 700 for reading. I'm going to be senior, any advise for what I should do before the end of summer? Please don't just say read and read because even though it helps, I'm running out of time. (By the way, I think my problem is that I can't concentrate completely when reading, what do I do about that?) Thanks so much for the help.

Jacks are a cichlid and they can be very aggressive towards other fish. Their tank mates need to be as aggressive as they are or they will be picked upon. The blood red parrot fish is a cross between a Jack and something else. They are very aggressive, and will kill smaller fish. Bala sharks are a hard fish to keep because they need their water to be almost perfect. If you plan on having cichlids then stay with cichlids that are just as aggressive as they are or can be.

Do i need to treat tank water for columnaris (body fungus) while treating my fish?

i have a serious body fungus issue in my tank. thought it was ick for a long time, so it was not treated appropriately. Some of my gravel has that white, stringy, cottony-looking stuff on it. Friend who won't ever return romantic feelings?

I gotta say I’ve been in love with a guy friend for nearly 2 years. Maybe not in love, but crazy over him. I’ve accepted the fact that he probably won’t ever return those feelings back. I don’t think that I measure up *physically* to what he is looking for. And besides, we have already talked about us dating and I know it’s pretty much a dead end. Nonetheless, for most of the 2 years I’ve known him, we’ve been pretty good friends, talking nearly every night online or through text and whatnot. We have very candid conversations that go on for hours about nearly any topic. So I’ve obviously gotten to know him a bit. My kitten wants to go outside, all the time....advice ?

Two months ago I got an adorable kitten, he was two months at the time. Now he's almost 4 months, and is up to date with his shots. I do have a collar for him with his name, and our address just in case he does run outside. So basically when I first got him, the weather was getting hot outside, so my family started barbecuing again. I'd feel bad because he'd had to be inside, while we were outside enjoying the weather. So at time my siblings, or I would carry him outside for a few minutes. At first he was subtle , but than he started running out of arms, and heading in bushes. My mom only allowed him to go to our bedrooms, living room etc, if he stays an indoor cat. That's why we stopped taking him outside, because he's literally prone to get dirty. Now he keeps meowing, and always wants to be let out. Our vet told us no, he said it was dangerous, and our kitten would fight with other cats. He acts violent if he can't go outside,or he keeps meowing. At times I let him on our drive way for a little bit, but he keeps running of to the road, or dirty places. So i don't know what to do, he's always meowing to go outside, or he acts possessed and jumps every where until we take him outside, but then he doesn't listen to us !

I am in love with a girl since 2008 and we met frequently and she is one of my close relative. She love me madly and in return I love her with all my heart. I am currently attending my local community college and am looking for schools to apply to this spring. I have two instate options one is 4 hours away and is excellent academically and the other is not so good but is 30 minutes away. My parents/family said I could go to what ever instate school that I want but are now acting extremely skeptical/critical of my primary chose. I had a first time invitation to a friend's house for what she termed "a picnic." I arrived at the appointed time to find her husband grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. I'm not sure what fish would be compatible, but don't get a algae eater. Common plecos can grow 16+ inches and produce a LOT of waste. Chinese algae eaters grow 12+ inches and don't eat algae, they eat microorganisms. On top of that, they will become aggressive to your fish.

I just got my ACT scores in, I got a composite score of 32. 30 on English, 34 on Mathematics, 33 on Critical Reading, 30 on Science, and a 28 on combined English and Writing (8 on my essay). Should there be federal and state money given to support under-represented minority success on the SATs?

You apparently aren't familiar with California's state sponsored tutoring system. All the tutoring companies hold fairs and compete to enroll underprivileged students. The state government then picks up the tab for the "underprivileged" students who are economically disadvantaged. I personally went to one of the fairs. I was brushed aside, while they climbed all over one another in order to compete for the attention of the Spanish speaking parents who were their targeted demographic. Anyone who looked as though they were too affluent to qualify for government funding ie: anyone not black or hispanic, was summarily dismissed. In fact the one counselor would even talk to us was not busy because he was the company president and didn't speak Spanish.

Are these SAT and ACT scores scholarship-worthy?

You can look up SAT requirements on princeton review or just google search school's specific requirements. usually they don't straight out tell you the mean SAT score on the school site, but the info is accessible if you just dig a bit through the internet. The Reading score is a little low for an Ivy league, but I'm guessing you're going into your senior year? study more and retake-- it won't look bad if you take the test twice. writing and math are excellent.. schools do look at more than just your sat scores though (although they do count for a lot).. how's your gpa? have you taken AP classes? participated in school activities? "top notch" application essay? if you have another year of high school, consider all these things.

One bowl has 113 calories which means by the time I've had lunch, I've had 226 calories. I have a digestive biscuit or a fruit if I feel hungry before dinner. A digestive biscuit has 74 calories. By dinner time, I've had 300 calories. I have a breast piece of barbecue for dinner which I'm not sure but has around 257 calories I think. Which means I have 557 calories a day. My male Bristlenose Pleco doesn't seem happy? His side hooks are always out?

Plecos get territorial around other plecos, they hate each other, and have been known to kill each other. 16 gallons is too small for one pleco, 2 plecos in a tank that size would be very stressed. I don't know If the pleco would do better in the 55 gallon tank, it is very poorly stocked. This might be a situation were re-homing the fish to a friend, to someone on craigslist, or to a Pet store would be the most humane thing to do.

My sister's friend is throwing a barbecue for 40 ppl tomorrow mixed with adults and kids and she asked my sister's husband to be in charge of the grill since her own husband doesn't seem to like to get off his *** and do things. Now my sister and her husband like to entertain and do it often with lots of detail and preparation when they cook for their guests. Symantec was recently installed, replacing Avast and I have seen nothing but problems.?

Is it just me, or are there definite problems with Symantec and Vista? I am running Windows Vista Business edition. This is a desktop computer at work. We are connected to a Windows 2005 or 2008 server. My problem: for about the past 2 weeks, I have been receiving 'critical' errors in the error logs about Kernel-Power, event ID 41. Says sleep transition not successful. However, what I am seeing as the end user is: Outlook is the first to lose connection with the network. Then, because Outlook is trying to connect to the server, it begins to interrupt other programs. Typically, the internet is the next to lock up, then other programs follow. The only thing to do is hard boot the computer. I start in Safe Mode, then restart into Normal Mode. This has happened consistently each day of the working week for two weeks now. My computer is from July 2008 and from then to June 2011, the computer has logged only 9 critical events - all within the last two weeks. Any suggestions or insights would be extremely helpful. The company's IT person has replaced my network cable and battery in the computer. Her next step is replacing the NIC card, but I am not sure that will make a difference.

I'm getting fat but I like it?

I've always been slim but it's fair to say over the last few months I've gotten a bit big. Over winter I adopted some unhealthy eating habits that have carried on throughout the year adding about 30lbs to my weight making me around 185lbs. The only negative is my rapidly expanding waistline and the fact I spend a lot of my allowance on snacks and food. I never used to care for food much but now it all seems so tasty! I can happily eat through loads of biscuits and cakes, I now eat 3 chocolate cream filled eclairs everyday without fail, I know I shouldn't but they taste so damn nice. The only person who makes critical remarks is my mum as she says she doesn't want a fat son and she's tired of buying me bigger and bigger clothes. Like she keeps grabbing my new fat and telling me to get rid. I don't really care about my weight so is this a problem?

I think you should talk to him and tell him how much his behaviour is upsettig you. I understand how frustrating OCD can be; I have it myself- i constantly wash my hands, have to check things various times and i overthink things so much to the point it drives me insane. i know many other people who had OCD, all in different forms for instance my mother has OCD about cleaning and tidiness and it pisses me off so much!! I think everyone has OCD, but in different forms. I think you should talk to him, tell him how upset you are and maybe suggest he go to cognitive behavioural therapy for his OCD, I havent tried it, but I hear it helps. How long do I need to be in Kumon and how effective is it?

Ok, so I am an incoming freshman and my parents want to send me to Kumon to improve in reading. But really, the help I need (my parents know this too) is in more advanced reading comprehension and especially inferring things from the text. I am aware you have to take take a placement test; and from what I've been reading online, it seems like you are generally placed at lower levels, and to advance you need perfect scores on all the worksheets. Is that correct? And how far is it to get to the "level" with critical comprehension and inferences? Because from what it sounds like, I'll start with basic stuff and won't get to take what I feel I need (at least for a while); and as a result, I'll be there forever( figuratively speaking). Cooking Salmon on the barbecue?

I bought a filet of salmon at the store (on sale!). I've never really cooked with salmon before but the grill is already hot so I figure I'll throw it on. I need something to season or dress it with though. I have fresh garlic, fresh basil, or some mangos, a lemon, fresh rosemary. Anything come to mind with those ingredients? What can I do to stop obsessive thoughts? I am medicated for this but can't seem to stop.?

I am under the care of a mental health provider. I am prescribed prozac, lamictal, buspar, and recently resperdal. I am very obsessive and over critical. I find myself laying in bed crying obsessing over things that I can't change. Recently it has been the break up of a boyfriend of only 3 months. I know that he was no good for me and was making me into someone that I didn't want to be but some for some reason I am obsessing over this and don't know if it is just because I am lonely. Last week I was supposed to be on a cruise to celebrate my sisters 40th but when we got to New Orleans I found that I had forgotten my passport. Talk about ruining someones birthday. It happened the same day as the break up. I laid around and cried for a week. Prior to this I continued to freak out at work due to the amount of work that I had to do and I continued to obsess over it. It is like I can't turn my brain off. It just gets racing faster and faster. And the thoughts snowball. I have looked up lethal dosage of medications but don't think this is anything that I would do.....I just want my brain to stop. I just got off ambien because I was abusing it to sleep since that is the only time that my brain doesn't obsess. I just want to know if anyone has found a successful way to stop obsessions.

You really didn't eat a lot at all. You are a (thin) teenager and do not need to think about having eaten too much, there's plenty of time for that when you hit 60. ;) You should incorporate some vegetables and fruit into your diet, have eggs or cottage cheese along with your cereal at breakfast and have a snack between breakfast and lunch (a cheese stick and an apple, half a sandwich, trailmix, carrot sticks and ranch, etc.).

i am constantly fighting demon possessed people in my dreams, using the holy spirit. I already made another barbecue sauce for my uncle's family and used orange juice and it came out excellent but now I am making a much spicier one for myself and all I need to do is get more corn syrup and fruit juice. I am assuming fruit soda would work horribly, ha ha. I am also hesitant to use those Ocean Spray or Langers juice blends with 5% juice (but maybe they might work if they have a high enough concentrate of high fructose corn syrup in them, saving me from having to buy it separately). I just recieved my SAT scores and I have the option of sending a few score reports to colleges for free. I got a pretty good score, a 650 in critical reading, 700 in math, and 620 in writing; however, I plan on taking it again in October. Hi knittingqueen22, this sort of thing is best sorted out somewhere quiet, maybe you could get him to walk with you somewhere peaceful. As you walk you talk, and of course the subject you talk about is how you feel about him, and how does he feel about a proper relationship. That's the best way for you to put it out there. Basically your GPA doesn't count for anything because teachers give you a grade if you finish your work. Your SAT score indicates that you are just finishing the work, but not really understanding or thinking about your work. Let's be real. Getting into colleges like Berkeley is EXTREMELY competitive. You need to re-take the SAT or ACT and study for it. Work on your essays for entrance. When you get out of college you will be competing for jobs, so you had better get used to it.

How much weight will I lose with this diet?

Hi, i'm 15 and keeping my height, weight, the number of days I exercise per week in view, I need about 800 calories a day. I have a Kellogs cereal for breakfast and lunch. One bowl has 113 calories which means by the time I've had lunch, I've had 226 calories. I have a digestive biscuit or a fruit if I feel hungry before dinner. A digestive biscuit has 74 calories. By dinner time, I've had 300 calories. I have a breast piece of barbecue for dinner which I'm not sure but has around 257 calories I think. Which means I have 557 calories a day. I eat more digestive biscuits if I feel I'm taking very less calories. I want to know how much weight and in how much time will I lose if I continue this diet. Thanks. :)

My parents are the same, but it may be because they feel that with all the material objects you have had less of a social life (ergo no ambitions). I would say 75 to 80% do that. We also watch TV programs of the President visiting the graves of soldiers and programs about wars we have been in. Why won't my car start?

I have a '96 Olds Ciera with a 3.1. Now that's it's getting warmer out, it doesn't like to start. I use my car to deliver mail and it will run fine all day until I turn it off and try to start it again. It will turn over but not fire. When it turns over, it isn't smooth. It chugs and sputters and stinks, like a barbecue grill. But it will start with a jump. After I jump start it, it runs rough for a couple minutes. I rev it up a little and it smooths out and runs fine. I've replaced the alternator, battery, and intake air temp sensor. I'm running out of ideas.

Most enlightening dream I ever had?

In the beginning I was at some sort of barbecue with a bunch of shadows of people. The cook wasn't there, and people started leaving. I frantically looked around for my mom but I couldn't find her. I gave up and wandered off to some apartment courtyard, and only I was there. The white flowers of this huge tree began falling all over me. I put out my hand and many flowers fell into my hand. Then all of a sudden in my other hand was my knife. I dropped it, though I'm unsure why. It cut my wrist and is was bleeding a lot. It stung, but I was mesmerized by it. It seemed to beautiful to me. I began walking with no apparent place to go. I just stared at my wound for a long time. It had stopped bleeding at this point. I looked up from my wrist and kept walking. I was in a neighborhood I've never been in before. I looked down an alleyway and there was a guy beating his girlfriend. I kept walking and in the next alleyway some other guys were fighting the guy who was beating his girlfriend. I woke up then. I had a surge of enlightenment and a strange sort of happiness afterward.
